character design: costume colours

Bonjour tout le monde :) Here are the character model sheets detailing the colours for each band member's outfit. Written next to each colour are the RGB values. Type these into your colour selector to ensure you get exactly the same colour. There will be Honkers Girls colours to come, along with a step by step for the suggested method for scanning in your animation and colouring it.
NOTE: Don't draw on the American flag on the back of Bliss' jacket; we decided it would be too difficult to animate. And don't draw the tassels on Matt's jacket (also very difficult to animate); instead, just draw the diagonal lines across shoulders and chest (front view) and squarish line across shoulders (back view).

Line Up

Here's the line up, with their heights marked out in different colours :)

Character Design pt.4.5

Here you go! Some more (Felix, Prof T, and Reverend). Get practising, you'll be animating them on Monday! Any problems you run into, let Gemma and I know on Monday. I will upload a line up shortly, so you can see their heights relative to each other, and there will be a sheet on hands, with their general rules, and for the heads too.

A note about Reverend's costume: Gemma and I did like the Confederate shirt that Aaron drew, but decided it would become very tricky to get it drawn right in perspective, and get all the little stars on it, so thought dungarees would be easier to draw.

General notes on drawing the bodies:
- Feet are always the same length as the forearm (or close enough)
- Legs are about a third of the width of the torso
- Bottom of wrists come in line with crotch (except Razor, where the TOP of the wrists come in line with the crotch)
- Torso approximately 4-5 shoulder circles wide
- Elbows always come at halfway point of torso box (this is also where the waist is)
- Fingers always reach halfway between hip (bottom of torso box) and knee joint
- Middle finger is same length as the palm

Check each sheet for other details. This is an overview of general rules.

Character Design pt.4

At long last, we have model sheets!!! Here are three of the band members, Captain Bliss, Matt Ord, and Razor. Start drawing them; you'll be animating one of them on Monday!

A couple notes: We may lose the American flag on Bliss' jacket, or make it really simple; we'll see. Also, we will probably lose the tassles on Matt's jacket as they would just be insane to animate!

Character Design pt.3

I hope you all recieved my email. Here is the line up for the band, and their heads. I hope the style won't be too difficult to get the hang of. I filled an A4 page of one character's head (about a dozen) and by the end pretty much understood it. The heads in particular aren't finalised, but they won't be changing much; we will make a standardised and more detailed head-design sheet, but you can start copying these here for the time being. Same with the bodies. If you do have any issues/real problems with copying them, let me and Gemma know on Monday in class.
Get practising!

Hello people (but primarily Gemma and Liz)

Just a heads up, to anybody trying to practice the characters, I'm thinking we ignore the body shapes line up I posted before - I just tried drawing Bliss' head onto his body and Prof T's head onto his body, and it didn't work so well. The proportions will need to change a bit I think. I drew a body based on the head (for each of them) and it looked much better. We can discuss this in tomorrow's sesh.

And we'll post up the official guidelines for the characters soon!

Character Design pt.1

General update: we now have character designs finalised, and our animatic is timed.

Yo, here is the line up for the different body shapes and relative heights. Gemma should put our final character designs on here soon, so we can all begin practising!

If you have some spare time and want to, please consider the asethetic, and come up with some concept art (e.g., for background, interiors, exteriors, lighting, mood, colour swatches, Honkers logo, etc.) for Monday.

Enjoy your weekend :)
